Best Phoenix 2nd Hand and Antique Shops
Who doesn't get a little thrill when you find the perfect designer blouse or mid-century modern chair at your favorite resale shop. Whether it's 2nd hand for charity, resale consignment, antiques or just plain old junk, it's really all the same. . . used stuff. If shopping malls and upscale boutiques are not your thing, then we've got the list for you. These are some of Phoenix's best shops for hidden treasures and those items that make you want to shout out loud... "score!" Many of these shops fund charitable efforts through their profits, so you can feel good about shopping there and/or donating there too. The Oracle knows that an avid 2nd hand shopper occasionally needs to make space by donating, so as to be able to shop some more.
This charity based organization has some fabulous 2nd hand buys. They really excel when it comes to furniture, but they also have all the usual stuff like clothing, household goods, tools, sporting goods, art, decor and more. There's plenty of parking and the store is well organized. You'll also find good prices, especially if you go when they are having a sale which you can get wind of by visiting their facebook page. Shanti's 2nd Chances provides support to those living with and effected by HIV.
And if you have piles of stuff you just need to get rid of, the Oracle suggests you call Shanti's 2nd Chances as they provide free valley wide donation pick-ups. It just makes that good deed so much easier.
Flo's on 7th is the place for upscale resale. They are quite choosy about what gets put out and it makes for some great finds. Their discounted items change often. You'll find some nice designer or vintage clothes here, mostly for women. The place is clean and well organized. They can be a bit hit and miss with prices. The "upscale" aspect to this 2nd hand shop means they put a little more effort into combing through the donations, and the prices tend to be higher on some items than you might find at other stores. If you however appreciate a clean, well-organized shop that is doing good things for young women, they be sure to stop in for a look.
The store supports the Florence Crittendon service agency, an agency that helps young women and girls in need. It was founded in 1896 by a caring father who lost his daughter to scarlet fever. Which is a great reason to stop in and grab a few "new" outfits for that special date night in Phoenix with you and your honey, or just because you need something fresh in your closet.
For antique and consignment items, you'll find Call It New, Call It Antique a fun place to visit. This antique mall is huge and you can definitely spend a whole afternoon here checking out the wide variety of stuff. And when we say huge, we mean 43,000 square feet of huge. There are 100s of vendors, each little area stocked with goodies. You've got retro, vintage, ethnic, antique, curios, furniture, flea market, records, books, art glass, clothing, military and so much more. Prices vary depending on the vendor, but there are certainly some good buys here. Or maybe price doesn't matter when you find that thing you've always wanted for your collection.
There is also a nifty consignment section where anyone can bring in new or gently used items and put them up for sale on consignment. And don't worry, the "runners" are friendly staff members that will help you bring those much needed items up to the register or assist you in finding things. The Oracle recommends going for one of their sidewalk sales where the vendors come for the day, bring even more stuff and you can perhaps even angle for a better deal.
Finally a resale store just for men! Any why not? Men love a good deal just as much as the ladies. Now this isn't a thrift store, but a consignment shop, but you'll find some really great 2nd hand goods here that will make you feel like. . .well. . .a rich man! Clothes, shoes and accessories are available along with a few nifty new items and some music and sports memorabilia thrown in for good measure. You'll find some designer label stuff here like Ray Ban, Ralph Lauren and Nike. Perfect stuff for that date night out to a Phoenix dinner show with your honey. Or pick up a new T-shirt by a cool local artisan as a gift for the special guy in your life.
The Oracle recommends you take your car around back where there is more parking, and you can go in the back door. And if you find yourself with a nice shirt in the closet that you just don't seem to ever wear, then stop in any time. No appointment is needed if you want to offer up some stuff for consignment.
Almost everyone has heard of Nordstrom Rack, where you can purchase items from Nordstrom on clearance. Last Chance however is even better than that! Also selling items from Nordstrom, Last Chance is the place for final-clearance items and returned items. This is where you'll find that slightly scuffed pair of designer shoes or that killer designer dress for up to 75% off the original price. Super fancy designer stuff for cheap! What's the catch you ask. Well, it does get crowded, especially on weekends, and due to the number of "resale" shoppers who simply are there to grab and buy, the store is often chaotic and messy.
The Oracle suggests that if you are one of those avid, stop at nothing to get a great deal shoppers, then this is the kind of place that you will love. If however you don't want to have to sift through the damaged goods to find the prize, or battle the crowds and/or lines, then stick with Nordstrom Rack.
The Event Oracle knows a thing or two about where to find a great deal on all the kind of stuff you just can't live without. Whether you are a vintage collector or someone who just doesn't want to pay full price for that designer dress, there's a 2nd hand store for you on our list. Or if you've already shopped until you've dropped and you want some other ideas for things to do in Phoenix today, then visit Event Oracle's Best Phoenix Events Today.
